GeoLearning is a company in the petroleum and education sector, based in Trondheim, Norway. Our strategy is to develop a training and continuing professional development system for geoscience within the petroleum industry. The business idea is to use existing expertise within geoscience in order to deliver this system in a non-exclusive model.

Preservation of know-how

More than 40 years of work on the Norwegian shelf has built up a unique database and a host of well qualified and competent geologists and geophysicists. Both disciplines are experience-based fields and we are in danger of that expertise simply withering away as time goes by. Yet neither Norway as a nation, nor the individual oil companies, can afford to lose this valuable experience. It is therefore absolutely necessary that we put both build-up of competence and the transfer of expertise into the system and give these activities a higher status.

GeoLearning will be a major tool in achieving this goal.
